As a horticulturist,there are a few more plants that have always been very "alien" (in my opinion!) If anyones interested they can look up "Stapelia" a cactus types plant that's flowers reek of rotten meat to attract flies - that pollinate it,"Bat faced Cuphea" that look exactly like bats with fangs ,and the "Strangler Fig" shown here too,and it does tear up pipes and underground plumbing in tropical yards as well.But it produces long thin roots that drop from all along the length of outstretched branches that can form "wall-like" obstructions into the ground in S Fla where I'm from....I live in E Tx now and search out wild "Devils Claw '' vines in the Spring and have replanted the seeds in my flower beds...
